Overview

Tirich Main peak (7,708m) was first climbed in 1950 by a Norwegian expedition led by Arne Naess, with notable members including P. Kvernberg and H. Berg. Accompanied by Professor Hameed Beg of the Karakoram Club, who reached an altitude of over 6,096m, the expedition marked a significant achievement in mountaineering history. The first major Pakistani attempt was in 1951, led by Mian Abdul Rauf, reaching 6,553m before turning back due to supply shortages. The Tirich valley, known for its beauty and fairy legends, adds to the allure of this challenging peak.
