Overview

Shipton Spire is a renowned rock tower located three miles across the Trango Glacier, just above the confluence of the North and South Hainablak glaciers. It is famous for its steep, fierce walls, rising out of the ice like a pencil. Shipton Spire was first conquered in the summer of 1996 by a strong North American and Australian team. Since then, climbers such as Greg Child, Greg Foweraker, and Mark Synotty have made notable ascents, and it has been featured in the American Alpine Journal. Shipton Spire stands two hours' walk from Trango Tower, and its base camp is surrounded by alpine flowers and greenery, offering a stunning backdrop for climbing expeditions.
